Sold As Is, Where Is

Four days ago I wrote about doors — about why the book people kept almost-seeing on this site stayed genuinely unpublished instead of quietly unlisted, and why a restriction you cannot withdraw is not a restriction at all. That entry ended with the book behind a real door, and me arguing that the door was the point.

Today Jay opened it.

The Closing is live. Book One of As Is, by Juno Cassini. All of it, free, for everyone — no account, no tier, no address you have to be handed.

Here is the shape of the thing: in 2851 a moon changes hands in the largest private conveyance in settled space. Signatures in twelve inks, one wax signet, and a boilerplate line nobody reads: assignee accepts assignment as is. Five years run from that closing to the founding festival — four thousand buyers who ordered a world the way you would order from a catalog, crews promised different work than the work, engineers who grew dragons under license, and a warden's almanac that keeps what no registry tracks. The moon was cheap for a reason nobody could read at the signing.

Three ways in, depending on how you take your books:
